Arthur Baute is a local artist in Miami, FL who goes by the tag name MXYTSPLYK. "My sources for inspiration usually come from pop culture and common knowledge, intensely. My roots of fine art and graffiti are a major element in my paintings", Baute said. "Graffiti is about vandalizing and disrupting the public lifestyle. I personally believe it's just another layer of paint that eventually will be covered as well. My art is about layers and the placement of layers so the absurdity of the iconography I use can blend in harmony." Along with painting on female bodies at local events, Baute also showcases many of his original pieces at venues and art events throughout Miami. "[My art] sort of resembles the people who live here ... it becomes really surreal when I stop focusing on the subject and stop to enjoy the city." Arthur Baute has been a fine and contemporary artist his entire life, with formal training from the Visual Art programs at the South Miami Center for the Arts as a child.
